This year, the Humanities Department Humanities Festival is focusing on the myriad lenses through which one can see the world and try to make sense of it. We believe that all disciplines and areas of expertise offer a lens through which to focus our thoughts and clarify our perceptions, those of our students, and those of the community.
How do you/your discipline/your area of expertise shape our vision of the world and how does it help others frame or reframe their worldview?
We are accepting proposals that address this topic; we hope our reach will be broad and that every discipline across the college shares a point of view.
Don’t have an idea for a topic but want to participate? Don’t worry. We will help you. Don’t think your discipline belongs at a Humanities Festival? We do, so contact any one of us in the Humanities department to talk through your ideas. (FT Humanities Faculty members are: Tim Clifford, Julia diLiberti, Adam Fotos, Josh Price)
Join us. We’d love to be part of a broad conversation on the need for or indifference to having a worldview.
All presentations, panels, workshops, interactive events, seances (checking to see if you’re reading), or other types of activities may be proposed. Any presentation/activities which explore (no matter how broadly) the festival theme are welcome. ALL disciplines are welcome.
20 or 40 minute timeslots are available. (We want to respect the 50 minute class times hence the times). Present alone or with others.
We ask that you think about a general audience and tailor your presentation as such.
